my parents don’t understand how i can make the qualification “you don’t know how they identify” when it concerns someone who may look “different” to normal people. working at a verrrry verrrrrry gender fluid place, I’ve added to my understanding of people.. this includes gender and sexuality identifications (on top of cultural, racial identifications). obviously, i find it completely unfair that gender-based legislation even requires argumentation and legitimization- i don’t understand how my father can “make small” my argumentation anytime he labels another person as gay or lesbian or weird or whatever. And then there’s the issue of man and woman/gender binary thinking. I also don’t understand this. And i don’t understand hate, cultural insensitivity, social injustice, environmental racism, intended poverty, and hate (did i already say hate? i must mean it).
Maybe all i’m saying is that I don’t understand why people can’t accept other people; why people can’t accept nature as perfect; why people can’t value differences amongst others as a celebration of diversity rather than a reason for violence and injustice.
